As time goes by

December 2018

I must admit this blog has been neglected for neigh on two years now. I fully intended to keep it up with regular updates but I never seemed to get round to it it.

That has to change. My aim, from now on, is to update this blog once a week, probably on Fridays. That will give me a chance to incorporate interesting content, my "adventures" and lifestyle "happenings" that hopefully won't bore the pants off you.

A bit of a resume of the last couple of years from time to time would probably be helpful, so I'll be looking back every so often.

I have had little contact with the Job Centre during these past months. I was asked,  if I remember correctly, around June, to fill out an application for a job as a Digital Printer at a company in Cologne, so I did. It was in no way successful, as firstly, I am not a Digital Printer, secondly, I don't really want to work for less money than I currently receive as a "Job Seeker" and thirdly, I didn't want the job anyway. I dutifully wrote down all my particulars, work experience and all manner of information that was deemed necessary and at the bottom I entered my salary wishes. Anyway, I never heard back from the company, and I never thought I would. So since then, apart from informing the Job Centre that I have now applied for my pension, starting in April of  2019, I have had no contact with them at all.

I've had a bicycle of some sort since I was about 10 years old. My present bike was / is of the "mountain" variety, I bought that model mainly because they look a lot cooler than the majority of bikes and I thought I would look cool being sat upon it. Be that as it may, my mountain bike is old and not really that trustworthy anymore so I decided, as an aid to my fitness, and my new found freedom, to buy a new one. The fact that I live in a hilly, if not mountainous area, and the fact that my knees are not what they used to be I plumped for an E-bike and a good one at that. "Riese and Müller" may not be familiar to you and they weren't to me either but I was informed by the sales and technical staff of my chosen bicycle emporium that they make damn good bikes. So, long story short I purchased a Riese and Müller Nevo Charger. The drive motor is a Bosch 500 Wh and the controller is a Nyon. That really doesn't explain much but I wanted a bike that was reliable and needed less servicing in the long run so this bike, with its Belt drive and Nyon gear change was, although I didn't know it at the time, all that I was looking for.
